Tremec has been scratched from the Group 1 Sydney Cupfield at Royal Randwick today April 27, 2013.
The four-year-old was on the third line of betting for the $500,000 race prior to his scratching, after winning his two past race starts this autumn carnival.
His first win came in the Listed Randwick City Stakes at Warwick Farm, while his most recent victory was in the Group 2 Chairman’s Stakes over 2,600 metres at Randwick.
Tremec has won six of his 15 race starts and has earned more than $260,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.
There has not been any word on why Tremec was scratched from the 2013 Sydney Cup, with his camp yesterday confident about his chances in the race.
Trainer John Thompson rated the four-year-old as a good chance when asked less than 24 hours ago.
“A good stayer in the making … that’s how you’d class him,” Thompson said.
“I think he’s a top-three chance on Saturday but’s he going to be even better again next year. He’ll go all day.”
With Tremec out of the 2013 Sydney Cup, Kelinni has firmed into $2.60 favourite for the race at bookmaker.com.au.
